L. Sherwood Anderson, 90, of 416 Bayard St., died Tuesday evening (Jan. 29, 2019) at the Lutheran Home at Kane, where he had been a recent resident. He was born May 22, 1928 in Kane. On August 18, 1950 he married Margaret Ann Kisko who survives.
Mr. Anderson was a four term McKean County Commissioner and a former Kane Borough Councilman and Council President. He worked in financial services for many years and was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church. He served with the 28th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in Germany as part of the Army of Occupation, retiring as a Major in 1971.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Sherilyn (Ronald) Weiser of Norristown, PA and Susan Katsotis of Cape Canaveral, FL; one son John Anderson of Kane; five grandchildren, Bethany (Andrew) Sullivan of Newport, RI, Michael (Kate) Weiser of Norristown. Ashlyn (Christopher) Jonda of Poland, OH, Alexa Anderson of Bridgeport, WV and Nickolas Anderson of Youngstown, OH and two great-grandchildren, Carter Sullivan and Finley Sullivan of Newport, RI.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Henry Peterson and his father and stepmother Elving and Ella Anderson, and a son-in-law, Ronald D.Weiser Jr.
There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of his family, with the Tabor Lutheran minister officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
