Barbara A. Overbeck
Barbara A. Overbeck, 87, of 2 Anderson Street, Mt. Jewett, passed away Thursday (November 1, 2018) at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born February 14, 1931, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Alice Bergstrom Mollander. On August 28, 1948, in Mt. Jewett, she married William Overbeck who preceded her in death on April 13, 2001.
Barbara worked at Stackpole and retired from the Quality Market where she had worked in the deli.
She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Mt. Jewett where she was active in the LCW and Church Council. She was formerly an active volunteer in the RSVP and was an auxiliary member of the Mt. Jewett American Legion and belonged to the Mt. Jewett Senior Center. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society in Bradford. She and her husband were active in the Skamper's Camping Club and the Mt. Jewett Snowmobile Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Sherry (Thomas) Fitzsimmons of Ashburn, VA, Debra Bosman of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Bonnie (Leland Bennett) Ewing of Mt. Jewett. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, was a brother, Walter "Rusty" Mollander.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held 11:30 am Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Mt. Jewett with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Nebo Chapel St. Matthew's Lutheran Church or the Mt. Jewett Public Library all on Main Street in Mt. Jewett.
