Jackie Thornton, 80, of 118 Kittanning St., Chicora, and formerly of Ludlow, passed away Tuesday (October 30, 2018), at Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born October 31, in Kane, he was a son of the late John and Marie Youngblood Thornton. On July 17, 1955, in Ludlow, he married Agnes Irene Eckstrom who preceded him in death.
Jackie had been a log truck driver for many years and had driven for Cochran's, Zaffino's, Lewis's and Kenny Eckstrom.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Schoentag of Butler; a son, Donald Thornton of Johnsonburg; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his wife and parents, by a granddaughter; one sister; and his son-in law, Glenn Schoentag Sr.
Friends will be received Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Andrew Wills, of Faith Fellowship Alliance in Butler, officiating. Burial will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery.
