Virginia C. "Cathy" O'Rourke, 70, of 18 S. Tionesta Ave. died Wednesday evening (Sept 19) at the Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys, where she had been a recent resident. She was born Oct. 23, 1947 in Marvindale to the late William and Sarah (Reynolds) Snyder. On Jan. 8, 1966 in Kane, she married Dominic O'Rourke, who survives.
Mrs. O'Rourke had been employed at several companies including Stackpole, Houston Electronics, Kane Magnetics and Metaldyne. She also was a waitress at the Texas Hot for many years. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church, the CD of A Court Callistus No. 66 and the Red Hats.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Robert O'Rourke of Johnsonburg and Dominic (Tara) O'Rourke Jr. of Kane; one daughter, Judith (Kevin) Hale of LaPlace, LA; two sisters, Cindy Harlan and Beth Anderson both of Kane; five brothers, Clayton (Judy) Snyder and William (Cherrie) Snyder both of Kane, Allen (Kathy) Snyder of Johnsonburg, Burton (Suzie) Snyder of CA and Ron (Kelly) Snyder of SC; five grandchildren, Amanda Hale of Chicago, IL, Joshua Hale of LaPlace, LA, Nikki O'Rourke, Zachary O'Rourke and Dominic O'Rourke III all of Kane; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Moore of Kane and Peg (Ron) Shever of Butler and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Thomas, one infant sister Anna Snyder and one granddaughter Kayla O'Rourke.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Sunday (Sept 23) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at St. Callistus Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. William O'Brien and the Rev. Philip Pinczewski as con celebrants. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
