Obituary for Alfreta Avenali (Weatherbee)

Alfreta Rose Avenali, 88, of 7162 Rte. 6, passed away Monday (September 3, 2018) at UPMC Kane.
She was born February 22, 1930 in Kane, the daughter of the late Richard and Blanche McFarland Weatherbee. On February 25, 1950, in Ridgway, she married Michael Avenali who survives.
Alfreta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved cooking and baking for her large family.
Before her retirement, she had worked at several local restaurants. She served on the board of the Kane Cemetery Association and was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are five children, Michael (Clara) Avenali, John (Eve) Avenali, Richard Avenali, Christine (Richard) Jolly and Peter Avenali, all of Kane; nine grandchildren, Anton Farley, Michael Avenali, Bonnie Avenali Lindquist, Katie Avenali Smith, Jake Avenali, Jesse Jolly, Sarah Jolly Murray, Adam Avenali and Nicole Cook Swanson; seven great grandchildren, Natalie Smith, Carissa Smith, Conley Swanson, Cooper Swanson, Silas Lindquist, Madison Lindquist and Alex Lindquist; and her sister, Maryann Gilmore of Kane. She also leaves behind her loving dog, Pepper.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her daughter, Michele Avenali Cook; an infant great grandson, Patrick William Murray; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday at St. Callistus Catholic Church with the Rev. William O'Brien, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
