Obituary for Frances Palumbo (Bonfilio)

Frances Palumbo
KANE
Frances Palumbo, 93, a lifelong Kane resident, passed away Thursday (August 2, 2018) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born December 27, 1924, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Francesco and Mariantonia Zimmaro Bonfilio. On September 18, 1948, in Kane, she married Pasquale "Pat" Palumbo who preceded her in death on November 30, 1996.
Fran graduated from Kane High School with the class of 1943 and served on the class reunion committee. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church, the CD of A Court Callistus #66 and participated in the faith sharing groups.
She had been employed by Sears Roebuck and Co., Holgates, Speer Carbon Co. (for 28 years), the Lutheran Home at Kane and the Kane Community Hospital.
Surviving are a son Peter (Martha) Palumbo of Bradford; a daughter, Linda (Tom) Churakos of Olean, NY; grandchildren, Anthony (Harley) Palumbo, Kristen (Craig) Tripp, Tom (Mel) Churakos, Jeremy (Courtney) Churakos and Shawn Churakos; seven great-grandchildren; nieces Julie (Duane) Bonfilio Frey, Pamela Carbone and Frances Scutella Zimmerman; nephews, Loreto (Ruth) LoBue and Joseph (Diane) Scutella; and cousins in the Kane area and in Sant'Agata d'Esaro, Calabria.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by brothers, Joe Bonfilio and Peter Bonfilio and sisters, Jean Bonfilio, Mary Bonfilio and Theresa Bonfilio.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Callistus Church on Monday at 11:00 am with the Rev. William O'Brien, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Callistus Catholic Church, 342 Chase St. or the Lutheran Home at Kane, 100 High Point Dr., both in Kane, PA 16735.
