Margaret E. Oknefski Housler, 96, formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Saturday (March 24, 2018) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.of
Born February 18, 1922, in Lewis Run, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Bertha May Torrey Townsend. She had been married to Charles A. Oknefski and Richard E. Housler, both of whom preceded her in death.
Mrs. Housler was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Mt. Jewett. She had worked for many years for Howes Leather Company in both Mt. Jewett and Ridgway before retiring in 1987. She was an active member of the Mt. Jewett Senior Center and an avid card player. She belonged to the same ladies card club in Mt. Jewett for over 70 years.
Surviving are two sons, Gary (Nadine) Oknefski of Denton, TX and Galen (Kim) Oknefski of Kane; a stepson, Kevin (Lois) Housler of Mt. Jewett; and a stepdaughter, Judith Salamone; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, William Oknefski; a sister,Marion Eymer; and a brother-in-law, Cyril Eymer.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday with the Rev. David Pflieger presiding. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery.
