Brian "Butch" K. Smith
Brian "Butch" K. Smith, 77, of 7 Boyd St., Mt. Jewett, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born December 13, 1939, in Mt. Jewett, he was a son of the late Alfred and Marion Kymer Smith. On May 25, 1963, in Mt. Jewett, he married Larue Hanson who survives.
Butch's first employer at age 16 was Mountain Top Beverage in Mt. Jewett where he remained until their closing in 1973. After 38 years of service, he retired from Keystone Carbon in St. Marys in 2002.
Butch was an avid model train enthusiast who collected and repaired many different models of trains. He enjoyed watching his favorite Pittsburgh teams, the Steelers and Pirates.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Larue, are two daughters, Jodi (Morton) Paul of Birdsboro and Juliann (Milt) Mescall of Brookville; three sons, Scott (Mary) Smith of Mt. Jewett, Daniel (Sara) Smith of Lacey, WA and Kenneth (Christina) Smith of Goode, VA; eight grandsons, Chris Paul, Tim Paul, Jeremy Mescall, Jordan (Lynn) Mescall, Jacob Smith, Cooper Smith, Erik Smith and Noah Smith; three granddaughters, Haley Norman, , Janelle (Kacey) Mescall and Lauren Smith; a great-granddaughter, Emelia Arose; a sister, Diane Powers of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by an infant brother, Michael Smith and a sister, Delores Milliron.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Jewett with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery.
